Colonel Buddy Andrada, PHILTA pillar
Having given two decades of his life to the presidency of the Philippine Tennis Association, Col. Salvador H. Andrada, AFP (Ret.) stepped aside to equip the national sports association with younger leadership. Proof his continuing commitment to Philippine tennis is that he continues to serve, albeit in a lower-profile position, that of Executive Vice-President for Administration.

From 1982 to 1986, Buddy Andrada dutifully served as Manager of the Philippine Davis Cup Team. His management skills elevated him to the top position in the Philippine Tennis Association, where he served as President from 1986 to 2005.
While he was PHILTA President, Andrada also became 2ndVice-President of the Philippine Olympic Committee, a position he held from 1992 to 1996. In 1992, he was a member of the Philippine Delegation to the Barcelona Olympics.
From 1996 to 2000, Andrada moved up to 1st Vice-President of the Philippine Olympic Committee. It was in 1996 that he was appointed Chef de Mission of the Philippine Team to the Atlanta Olympic Games. In the year 2000, he reprised his role, and was again drafted as Chef de Mission of the Philippine Team to the Sydney Olympics.
While already actively involved in the Philippine Olympic movement, Andrada also became Vice-President of the Asian Tennis Federation, a position he held from 1996 to 2003. He rose to become President of the Asian Tennis Federation, which he held from 2003 to 2005.
Not having had enough of him, the Asian Tennis Federation on August 16, 2008 elected him "ATF Life Vice-President," the first Filipino ever elected to this position.
Now retired as Lieutenant Colonel with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (Reserved Force), Col. Andrada’s military career started when he graduated from his ROTC Advanced Course from the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila. He then graduated in the Army Advanced Course at the Philippine Army Training Command. Prior to this, he had already completed the Army Basic Training Course at the Philippine Army School Center.
Residing in Congress Village, Novaliches, Quezon City, Andrada hails from Dumalag, Capiz Province. Married to another Andrada, Luzonica A. Andrada, the durable Colonel turned 72 last December 23, 2008. He may be reached at the PHILTA Office, 631-8270 and 631-6234.

It's been true that Buddy Andrada was at the helm of Philta but his dedeication and commitment was not good enough to developed our national players to be at par or competitive not only with international players but even with our neighboring asian nations. He let his chances to do this..his achievements is for himself only to be known as pillar of philippine tennis nothing more of a "self-serving" president...

we need the patience and handiwork of col buddy andrada to run the effecient day to day activities of philta. i think the present leadership of philta is wanting fine tuning..i heard the rvp are left to themselves...thier seem to be a vacuum created somewhere...we need the expertiuce of buddy andrada...the age group tpournaments nationaly is fine, but the locals need national support to discover hidden talents...we have local talents, boy, plenty of them, but no support no glory...amen
